RUG AND KILIM MOTIFS

Oriental rugs and kilims have always had specific symbols, or motifs. These motifs differ based on the region, materials used and most importantly the weaver. The uniqueness of the oriental rug comes from the personal touches of the weaver. Rugs and kilims have been passed from generation to another. As they get older, their monetary value, more importantly their sentimental value increases. This is why the stories are told via these motifs, which have been used since the first rug was woven in Turkey. The motifs reflect the feelings, life experiences and thoughts of the weaver. Below you can find an example of motifs of birth.
